Washington D.C.
APR 24 - MAY 2, 2019
On Campus for the first time
For the first time in the program, we came together as a group Pepperdine’s campus. The legacy of this program could be felt immediately in the historic Hotel Lomardy next door, and it quickly became another second home to our cohort. We were also lucky to have some phenomenal guess faculty at this session, including the consulting guru Jeff McCollum.
Introduction to Consulting with NCTE
In this intensive we moved beyond group and into the realm of the organization. The Still Sisters were tasked with helping a local non-profit organization revamp their employee handbook and associated processes. It felt amazing not only to be trusted with the consulting process from start to finish, but also to help an organization that is truly fighting the good fight.
A real cultural experience
In addition to our consulting work, we also had the chance to conduct fieldwork while visiting Washington D.C. Experiences at the National Law Enforcement Museum, the African American History Museum and the Vietnam War Memorial all proved to be excellent learning opportunities that broadened my perspective. Even traveling domestically I noticed how different the culture in D.C. was, compared to the West Coast!
