Back at Home

For our second intensive we came back to the same place, for a very different experience. The work of becoming world class OD practitioners is not easy or comfortable, but doing so in such a beautiful and peaceful setting made it enjoyable. Surrounded by good friends, sun and sea, we moved from looking inward to looking into group dynamics. From walk-and-talks at the lagoon to late night musings with my roommates, I feel blessed to call this place a home away from home.

Learning Group Formation

A key component of this program is experiential learning at all levels of organization. During this trip we explored topics like power + influence, group development, psychological safety, norms, and the paradoxical nature of life in groups. Through an experiential group formation exercise, we not only became well versed in these areas, but walked away with the Learning Group that we’d be a part of until graduation…for me, this is the Still Sisters.

Diving Beneath The Water Line

Part of our work during this intensive was learning to dive beneath the water line - that is, to look beneath the surface of our actions and emotions and try to understand where they come from. Throughout experiential learning group we were tasked with being vulnerable with one another, in order to open up possibility of a deeper relationship. Understanding the impact of psychological safety first hand engrained in us the priority of establishing trust prior to conducting interventions in the workplace.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Still Sisters Learning Group Manifesto

The purpose of our learning group is to support and walk with each other through moments of uncertainty and success, so we can learn, grow and be our wise selves.

Let nothing disturb you,

Let nothing frighten you,

All things are passing away.

~ St. Teresa of Avila
